Colorado Does Oktoberfest!
There’s something about Oktoberfest that makes it hard not to love: giant beer steins, bratwurst and pretzels, live Oompah music, dancing, and plenty of Prost! Most of the traditional Oktoberfest celebrations originated in Germany, but you don’t have to travel all the way to Bavaria to experience the festivities.
Oktoberfest began in Munich in 1810 to celebrate the wedding of Crown Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. What started with simple horse races eventually grew into a folk festival filled with beer tents, music, parades, and hearty food. Today, it is the world’s largest Volksfest.
But you don’t need to travel all the way to Bavaria to get into the spirit of the Wiesn’ (as locals call it). Colorado has proudly embraced the tradition, blending Bavarian culture with mountain scenery, craft beer, and plenty of Rocky Mountain flair.

1. Arapahoe Basin Oktoberfest
Dates: September 19-20, 2026
Why go: There will be live Austrian folk music, good beer and pretzels bigger than your face! Includes FREE chairlift rides, and it is the GOAT, after all!

2.Breckenridge Oktoberfest
Dates: September 25-27, 2026
Why go: Breckenridge transforms its historic Main Street into a Bavarian-style celebration complete with beer, German food, live Oompah music, dancing, stein-hoisting, and plenty of festive activities. Add the mountain backdrop and charming downtown, and it’s hard to beat the atmosphere.
Best for: The quintessential Colorado Oktoberfest experience.
3. Denver Oktoberfest
Dates: September 18-20 & September 25-27, 2026
Why go: Running since 1969, Denver’s Oktoberfest is one of Colorado’s biggest and most well-known celebrations. Head to the Ballpark District for live music, beer, German food, keg bowling, stein hoisting, and the famous Long Dog Derby-a dachshund race that has become one of the festival’s signature events.

4. Vail Oktoberfest
Dates: September 11-13 in Lionshead Village & September 18-20 in Vail Village, 2026
