Local Gratitude Campaigns
Entering into the holiday season brings joy, reflection and gratitude. Especially this year, many in the community are looking for ways to donate and give back to those less fortunate. We have a compiled a small list of some places to donate food or time this holiday season.
Sister Carmen: A food bank in Lafayette is always taking food and thrift donations. Sister Carmen is a vital part of the Lafayette community, offering a wide range of services for those in need.
9News "Word of Thanks": A weekly micro-giving campaign that features different local relief organizations, such as the Fresh Food Hub, to simplify giving. Donations can be split between featured non-profits.
Food Bank of the Rockies: One in 8 Coloradans are experiencing food insecurity, including 1 in 7 children. Inadequate nutrition can result in troubling consequences for kids’ health at nearly every stage of childhood development. You can get involved by donating food or money, volunteering, or starting a virtual food drive.
Denver Food Rescue: Focuses on providing fresh produce while also addressing food waste and climate change. They emphasize the environmental and social justice impact of their work. They believe fresh, nutritious food is a right—not a privilege. Their Direct Distribution Model delivers fresh surplus food from local retailers directly to communities within two hours of recovery. You can volunteer, make a monetary donation, or donate your fresh garden produce.
Community Food Share: Their mission is to ensure everyone in Boulder and Broomfield Counties has access to the nutritious food they need to not just survive but thrive. Every year, Community Food Share collects thousands of pounds of produce, dairy, meat, bakery and grocery items from grocery stores and retail partners. They then distribute 27,000 meals per day through our hunger relief networks. Donate funds, food, or start a workplace giving campaign.
